The Etta Dames Collection

Atttt Laaast... I completed a few of the first dolls of a new collection I started. As I was finishing up on the last doll, and trying to think of a name for the collection, I was listening to one of my favorite artists, Etta James. And then it hit me; since these dolls have a little vintage flair, and since the beloved Etta James was inspiring me as I sewed, why not name them after her? Thus, (drum roll please), introducing the Etta Dames Collection.

Each doll is handmade by me, and each has her own sweet look. I love playing around with patterns and try to combine interesting colors together. So, even though I try to make these felt dolls look vintage, I also try to combine trendy colors of today--to add color to any child's nursery or kid's room decor.

I love taking custom orders, so if there is a color combo you'd love to see, please leave comments below or visit my shop and message me.

I think these dolls are so fun, and addictive--can anyone say collection?! As the famous Etta James once sang..."And then the spell was cast..."

Enter to Win a Fairy Doll Pattern by Min & Moots!

I was so excited when Claudia from Crafty Wool Felt approached me to ask me to be a guest curator for her felt shop. If you haven't been to her shop, and you are a crafter, you MUST check it out. She carries the largest selection of premium wool felt in such gorgeous, vibrant colors.

The felt is very sturdy, yet soft. It is perfect for all your craft projects, such as my doll patterns :)

To celebrate this joint venture, I am having a contest. One lucky winner will receive either a pattern OR (for those of you who do not sew) a finished doll. It's very simple to enter. Each step you do provides one "entry".

1) Step 1: Follow me on Instagram: Minandmoots
2) Step 2: Like me on Facebook: www.Facebook.com/MinandMoots
3) Step 3: Comment on this post, indicating which item you'd prefer (pattern or finished doll)

Winner will be selected on Wednesday, January 28, 8 PM EST.

Good luck!

Happy Cute New Year! I apologize for being absent the last few months. Life got very busy for me the latter part of 2014--new job, adjusting to my son going to kindergarten, many new orders in my shop. But, one of my resolutions for 2015 is to do my best at keeping up to date with my social media for Min & Moots.

To celebrate the New Year and to help me stick to my resolution, I will be running a sale each week in the month of January (and may throw in a contest here and there)!

This week, all digital Patterns on sale--20% off! Use discount code 2015PATTERN.  Easy to follow with numerous picture tutorials. All dolls are hand stitched and these patterns are perfect for every sewing level--from beginner to expert!

I wish you all a healthy and prosperous 2015! And don't forget to check back each week for future discounts (and contests)!

Saying Goodbye

One of the hardest things to do in life is say goodbye to something you love so dearly. This weekend, we lost our beautiful cat of 9.5 years, Betty. She was the most loving, sweetest animal and she gave our family so much joy.

Betty, we love you and you will be missed terribly.

Who's Afraid...?

When my son was born and started to actually sit to watch TV for more than five minutes, one of his favorite "movies" was the Disney classic, Three Little Pigs. My daughter also loves that movie, almost as much as he did. When I started sewing dolls again, I decided to make the three little pigs and the big bad wolf as Christmas gifts for the kids.

I adapted the dolls from a pattern by the talented Shelly, from Gingermelon. Her patterns can be found here.  Gingermelon also has an awesome blog--check it out to see all her projects, past and present.

The little piggies turned out just darling! My daughter's eyes nearly popped out of her head on Christmas morning when she saw them under the tree. At some point, I will need to make the coordinating houses, but for now, she is fine with using her imagination.

Three Little Piggies

In my daughter's world, the big bad wolf turns out to be the piggies friend, of course.

Let me know what you think. What's your favorite story classic? I may be able to bring it to "life" for you!

Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn Inspired Birthday Party

There is nothing more special than your little one's first birthday. Any crafty-crazed person such as myself can tell you the planning for such an event occurs months in advance. And even though your one-year-old will not remember the festivities of that day, at the end of that day, you will. Which is why creating those precious memories is something event planner extraordinaire, Patty, from Sweet Treat Stands does best. For her son's 1st birthday party, she created the most adorable Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn inspired birthday party I've seen.

When Patty approached me to produce a custom piece for the party, I jumped at the chance. What an opportunity! With Patty's vision and storyboard in hand, I crafted this wooden table top decoration. I loved making it and think it turned out pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself!

Wooden Doll Cake Topper/Table Decoration by Min & Moots

As a result of her event planning savvy, this event, as well as many other events she's styled, has been featured in some serious magazines and blogs in the party planning & craft worlds: Mingle Magazine; fohr MagazineParty Style Magazine; Kara's Party Ideas; Pizzazzerie; and Gemma's Party Style, to name a few.

Her work is truly genius and the other vendors she paired up with are extremely talented, as you can see from the pictures. Kudos to Patty and "Team Tom Sawyer", as she likes to call us.

I look forward to helping her style her future events!
